Several international friendlies took place as teams prepare for the upcoming World Cup

France 4 - Norway 0

Olivier Giroud stake his claim as France's primary attacker as he scored a brace in the 4-0 rout of Norway.

Japan 1 - Cyprus 0

Full back Atusto Uchida scored the winning goal for Japan in their final home friendly before leaving for Brazil.

USA 2 - Azerbaijan 0

Two goals in quick succession late in the second half gave USA a winning start to their World Cup preparation.

Cavani discouraged over Suárez's injury

Luis Suárez's striking partner, Edinson Cavani is concerned over Suárez's injury, however he remains upbeat and optimistic that Suarez can join the team 'as soon as possible'. The Liverpool player has already texted his teammate that he will be ready to face them comes June 19th.

Costa decision to wait

Vicente Del Bosque will wait as long as possible over the health of striker Diego Costa. The Atlético Madrid attacker had to limp off less than 10 minutes into last Saturday's Champions League final.

German players involved in car accident

Two German players, Julian Draxler and Benedikt Howedes was involved in a car accident, leaving two others hurt. The German pair was a passenger for an event in a closed circuit in Italy, when the car struck two men near the national team's hotel.

Foodgate?

England players and staffs can breathe a sigh of relief after out-of-date foods amounting to 2.6kg was confiscated from the team's hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The Italy's national team hotel just outside Rio had 50kg of food confiscated.

State of Emergency in Manaus

180-days state of emergency warning was issued by the local government of Manaus as a preventive measure if flooding occurs from the Rio Negro. However, should floods occur it would not damage the Arena Amazonia stadium.
