Arturo Vidal will undergo a knee surgery to treat a tear on his right knee's external meniscus. With World Cup just five weeks away, Jorge Sampaoli will be hoping for a speedy recovery for Chile's key man.

Low concerned over lack of form

Germany's head coach, Joachim Low is concerned over the lack of form and fitness problems that has befall several members of Germany's squad. Low is set to name his provisional squad on Thursday.

Queiroz name Iran provisional squad

Carlos Queiroz has unveiled his 28-man provisional squad for the upcoming World Cup. Askan Dejagah (Fulham) and Reza Ghoochannejhad (Charlton Athletic) is also included in the squad.

Peter Odemwingie has been named to Nigeria's provisional squad by head coach Stephen Keshi. Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi, Chelsea's John Obi Mikel is also in the squad.

Neill out of Australia's provisional squad

Lucas Neill however won't be playing in his third World Cup after being told by head coach Ange Postecoglou that he is out of the provisional squad due to a lack of playing time and injury worries.

Colombia to play two warm-ups before World Cup

Colombia will play two warm-up games in Buenos Aires prior to World Cup. The match against Senegal will took place on May 31st, and then against Jordan six days later.

Ki seeks treatment back home

Sunderland's midfielder, Ki Sung-Yueng has returned to Korea for a treatment to a persisting knee tendonitis issue. Ki, on loan from Swansea, will play a key role for Korea this summer having featured in the 2010 World Cup.

Wayne Bridge retires

Former Southampton, Chelsea, and Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge has hung-up his boots after succumbing to a knee injury. The 33 year-old defender has 36 England caps to his name.
