How It Stands

The group is still very much up in the air. England will go into their game with Uruguay with both teams fearing an early World Cup exit if they should lose. England must go in with more confidence having been unfortunate to lose their opening game against Italy, on the other hand Uruguay were comfortably beaten by Costa Rica who are ranked as the 28th best team in the world, sandwiched between Scotland and Romania.

Costa Rica who top the group on goal difference will go into their game against Italy full of confidence. They showed a lot of quality going forward with an impressive display from Arsenal striker Joel Campbell who was a menace throughout. I fully expect Italy to break the spirited Costa Ricans which puts a lot of pressure on the game between England and Uruguay.

It is believed Luis Suarez is likely to be back for Uruguay to face the Three Lions, although there is chance he could miss out again. England will be hoping on the fitness of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is fighting his way back. If England play with the same temp against Uruguay as they did against Italy, I imagine we will cause them a lot of problems.
