As well as the Senior national team, the U19s are playing a friendly on Wednesday 5th March. We have been heavily focused on the Euro 2016 draw and World Cup coming up so today we are shifting the focus to the next generation of England players.
So here is the Under 19 squad in full:
Goalkeepers: Mitchell Beeney (Chelsea), Christian Walton (Brighton & Hove Albion)
Defenders: Calum Chambers (Southampton), Shay Facey (Manchester City), Ola Aina (Chelsea), Leo Chambers (West Ham United), Matt Targett (Southampton), Isaac Hayden (Arsenal)
Midfielders: Alex Mowatt (Leeds United), John Swift (Chelsea), Lewis Baker (Chelsea), Jordon Ibe (Birmingham City, on loan from Liverpool), Harrison Reed (Southampton), Callum Robinson (Aston Villa)
Forwards: Josh Murphy (Norwich City), Sam Gallagher (Southampton), James Wilson (Manchester United)
Southamptons Calum Chambers has made the breakthrough into the first team this season with 16 EPL appearances under his belt which is great news for the 19 year old. We like to see players of his current development level getting game time with the under 19s as opposed to sitting on the bench and not playing with the senior team. His time will come and it is vital he gets plenty of games in playing for the three lions at all levels.
A good mix of players feature here with several being in and around the first teams of their respective clubs in the EPL and Championship. Murphy and Gallagher have both featured this season for Norwich City and Southampton which is great experience for them both.
An exciting crop of players here to watch out for. It's just a shame the fixture is on the same night as the senior team and the U21s and wont be shown on TV. The U21s fixture is on BT Sport and the seniors game against Denmark is on ITV1. Tickets will be available at the ground on the night of the game.
