Costa Rica- Bryan Oviedo

New, 1 comment

In preparation for the World Cup in Brazil, we look at another Costa Rican, this time in the EPL in Bryan Oviedo.

Christian Hofer

Bryan came to the EPL in August of 2012 from Danish side FC Copenhagen, he was spotted by the Danish side in the 2009 U-20 World Cup, while playing for Deportivo Sparissa. in 2010-11 he was loaned out to  FC Nordsjaelland for the 2010/11 season, where he won the Danish Cup. The next year back at Copenhagen he became a squad player regulary featuring for the first team and he helped the club win the same competition.

He marked his debut in a 3-2 defeat to Argentina on January 26, 2010 and his first international goal came in February 2010 against Columbia. Oviedo had racked up 13 caps when he switched to Everton in 2012. And has gone on to be caped  26 times.

He's a left sided player, often making way for Leighton Baines or Steve Pineaar, and even up on the wing, making him the ultimate squad player, payroll saver, and formation changer. Bryan is currently having his best year for Everton by scoring two goals in seven appearances. October 3, 2013 he scored in the 86th minute of the 1-0 win against Manchester United to mark Everton's first win at Old Trafford in twenty one years.

Either way, when the Three Lions see him next, they'll have to adapt to where he is on the field, and what he's doing, defense or dictating the play.
