World Cup Injury Watch: Group E & F

With less than two months away before the World Cup, here's the latest injury news for teams in groups E & F. Unlike previous groups, teams in these groups is probably not as nervous when it comes to their injury list.

Group E


Diego Benaglio, goalkeeper, finger

Wolfsburg custodian Diego Benaglio has been sidelined since last playing against Werder Bremen at the end of last month where he sustained a finger injury. He might return this weekend against Stuttgart.

Xherdan Shaqiri, midfielder, torn thigh muscle

The young winger sustained a torn thigh muscle injury earlier this month when his Bayern Munich side lost to Augsburg. There is no timetable yet on his expected return date.

Phillippe Senderos, defender, knock

The Valencia defender has been out of action since earlier this month playing 25 minutes against Basel in the Europa League. No news yet on his imminent return.

Josuha Guilavogui, midfielder, hamstring

The 23-year old midfielder will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury having last played two weeks ago. No words yet whether this injury will also sidelined him for the World Cup.

Yoan Gourcuff, midfielder, ankle

Gourcuff has been sidelined with an ankle injury, which has kept him out since the end of March. There is no news of his return yet.

Clement Grenier, midfielder, groin

Gourcuff's teammate in Lyon, Clement Grenier is also out and are currently nursing a groin strain injury which has kept him out since early March. There is also no news of his return yet.

Erik Lamela, midfielder, back

The 22-year old hasn't quite lived up to the hype following his move to Tottenham. He is currently sidelined with a back injury and though there is no word on his return, Tim Sherwood is confident he'll play again before season's end.

Fernando Gago, midfielder, knee

The Boca Juniors midfielder is currently sidelined for two months with a knee injury and might risk missing the World Cup.

Gonzalo Higuain, attacker, bruised ankle

The attacker suffered a bruised ankle following a heavy challenge from Inter Milan's defender, Marco Andreolli. No word whether he'll have to miss some time or not.

Bosnia & Herzegovina
Mensur Mujdža, defender, unknown injury

The 30-year old defender is currently sidelined with an injury which has kept him out since late last month. Detail of his injury is unavailable.

Sardar Azmoun, attacker, unknown injury

The young attacker has been linked with Arsenal, but was missing with an injury from Rubin Kazan's match day squad against CSKA Moscow. He should be back in one or two weeks.
