Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed Jack Wilshere to recover in time to take part in the World Cup this summer in Brazil.
Wilshere was injured in a tackle with Liverpool's Daniel Agger Wednesday during England's international friendly with Denmark and has subsequently been diagnosed with a hairline fracture.
The Arsenal midfielder is expected to miss between 6-8 weeks of action which means he should be back to full fitness towards the end of April. He will miss several key fixtures for the Gunners, including the second leg Champions League game in Munich.
However despite this, Wenger has backed Wilhere to make a full recovery:
"To go to a World Cup for a player is immense and I will do absolutely everything so that he can get there,"
"A fracture is a fracture, it is not muscular or a ligament," said Wenger, 64. "Once it is healed, you do not have to have any restriction in your preparation."
Wenger does have a point, muscular injuries can be very frustrating, and you are more likely to suffer a setback with a muscle injury. However with a bone injury, the recovery is usually very straight-forward.
Wilshere did miss the 2012 European Championships through an ankle injury and his senior career has been hampered by various injuries at different points. He has enjoyed a relatively healthy run before Wednesday's incident and he will hope he can return to club form sooner rather than later, leaving enough time to impress Roy Hodgson before the 30 man squad needs to be announced on the 13th of May.
