Tomorrow Roy Hodgson will name his squad to face Denmark next week. Many reports are suggesting that the squad will be as big as 30 players as Roy takes one last chance to get a closer look at some of the players in training ahead of the World Cup squad announcement., which will be made up of 23 players and seven standbys.
Who should be named in this squad to face Denmark tomorrow? Who do you want to see and who would you be upset to see ommitted. Here are a few of my suggestions for players I really want Roy to take a look at before naming his World Cup squad.
Luke Shaw – We are in a fortunate position where we boast two of the better left backs in World football in Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines. However 18 year old Luke Shaw is a regular for a Premier League team and is quite obviously the future. He has been outstnading this season in defense and attack and deserves to get a shot with the first team squad.
Raheem Sterling – Did you see that ball for Sturridge’s goal on Saturday, that was an outstanding pass that Zidane would have been proud of. He needs to be more consistent, but he is going in the right direction, as another youngster, it would be fantastic to see his pace added to the squad. He has been playing well for Liverpool and deserves to get a chance to prove his worth.
Andy Carroll – Carroll has only recently come back into the first team after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an injury. He then got himself sent off which caused him to miss 3 more games. However when he plays he is just dominant. I think he can add an extra dimension to this England squad with his knockdowns alone. I think Roy has to have a look at him in training to see how he works with the first team.
