England's options have further decreased with the new that Manchester United defender Phil Jones has been ruled out of Tuesday's friendly against Germany.
Jones who started Friday's 2-0 friendly defeat to Chile picked up an injury in the game and was replaced just before the half hour mark by club-mate Chris Smalling.
The Football Association confirmed earlier today that following a scan, Jones will return to Manchester and take no part in Tuesday's game.
Phil Jones in my opinion looked very poor against Chile with the South American's quick intricate passing style causing more than a handful of problems for the young promising defender. During the build-up to the first Chile goal, Jones was playing too high and then let his man run in behind him, had he have had a better touch, the ball would have been in the back of the net earlier.
It's a crushing blow to a player who is still looking to establish himself in the international side, and who's place in Brazil is nowhere close to being guaranteed.
England are hoping to have Kyle Walker, Steven Gerrard, Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge available for the friendly against the rival Germans on Tuesday.
