Player Ratings: England U21's v Finland U21's

New, 2 comments

A comfortable nights work for Southgate's lads.

Jack Butland - Didn't have a lot to do (made 1 save & collected a cross) but was competent with it. 6

Carl Jenkinson - The least impressive of England's two fullbacks, didn't give enough support to Zaha and latterly Ince but was solid in his defensive duties. 5

John Stones - Seems to be developing a good centre back partnership with Michael Keane, good foray's into the opposition half. Had little to do defensively. 6

Michael Keane - Showed his sizeable strength when he out wrestled his Finnish marker for the first goal. Very commanding aerially. 7

Luke Shaw- Looked at ease bombing forward up the left flank, most of England's potent moves came down the left hand side due to him. 7

Nathaniel Chalobah - Marshalled in front of the defence tidily. As a holding midfielder I would like him to take care of the Football more, losing possession in the middle of the park is dangerous. 6

James Ward-Prowse - His play will sometimes go unnoticed with other stellar attacking talent around him but Ward Prowse was lively, consistent and set up a host of chances. His distribution is particularly impressive. 8

Wilfried Zaha - Wasn't in the game in the opening period and subsequently got frustrated but once he switched to the left wing he prospered. 1 or 2 tricks is fine 8 isn't! 6

Ravel Morrison - His class is there for all to see but on occasion gives the ball away without being under any pressure. Realised the need to drop deep to see more of the ball, ended his game well. 7

Raheem Sterling - Finland's Right Back marshalled him well, allowing no space for Sterlng to dribble and being physically aggressive against his diminutive stature. 5

Saido Berahino - What a player to have in your squad. As the lone striker he lets the attacking midfielders create the chances without really getting involved and then bang he scores 2 goals. Hate this cliché but he certainly knows where the goal is. 9

Will Hughes (64th minute) - Looked good. Brought slightly more attacking wise than Chalobah. 5

Tom Ince (65th minute) - Missed a sitter when put through on goal by Zaha. 5

Jesse Lingard (83rd minute) - Brought vibrancy and linked up well with Berahino. His brilliant individual run set up the West Brom man's 2nd. 6
