England Player Watch - 26/27 Oct

New, 1 comment

Each week we focus on three England players who could light up the Premier League this weekend.

Clive Rose

Nathan Redmond

Club: Norwich City
Age: 19
Position: AML / AMR
Appearances: 5 (2)
Goals: 1
Assists: 0
Key chances created: 5
Shot Accuracy: 45%
England U21 Caps: 8

Nathan Redmond is an exciting winger with bags of pace who has been given a chance in the Premier League with Norwich City. He has already scored 1 goal this season whilst creating a host of other chances for himself and his team mates. He's already cemented his place in the U21 team with bags of pace and energy.

Redmond came on as a late substitue in Norwich's previous game against Arsenal and will be looking for a start this weekend. Although still a little raw with his ability, he can sometimes try too hard and too much against defenders and concede possession, but it is his attacking intent and willingness to go at defenders that gets the crowd on the edge of their seats. If he can continue to get plenty of minutes on the pitch he could develop into a top-class winger.

Adam Lallana

Club: Southampton
Age: 25
Position: AML / AMR / AMC
Appearances: 8
Goals: 2
Assists: 2
Key chances created: 16
Shot Accuracy: 67%
England U21 Caps: 1

Lallana has been at the heart of Southampton's attacking formation for several seasons now scoring and assisting consitently throughout. A recent call up to the England senior team for the game against Ukraine gave him a taste of the International scene.

He may not appear in most peoples thoughts when it comes to the England team but looking at his key stats it would be hard to argue against his inclusion in the upcoming friendlies against Chile and Germany. Two goals and two assists are a good return in the EPL but it is his total chances created of 16 that is really impressive. With two friendlies coming up it would be really interesting to see Lallana get 30 mins at Wembley and see what he can deliver.

Ross Barkley

Club: Everton
Age: 19
Position: MC / AMC
Appearances: 8
Goals: 2
Assists: 0
Key chances created: 9
Shot Accuracy: 46%
England Caps: 1
England U21 Caps: 5

Barkley has broken in to the Everton this season a couple of years after making his debut. The strong midfielder hit everyones radar a while back but didn't manage to force his way into the first team through injuries and form. This season has been different and he has almost made himself a guaranteed pick on the Everton team sheet.

He netted in the opening game of the season against Norwich and made his England debut against Moldova coming on for Jack Wilshire in the 4-0 win. Similar to Lallana, he has scored a couple of goals and has created 9 key chances for his team mates. Similarities are being drawn up against Gerrard due to his combative style of play and willingness to take a shot on. I'm a big fan of Barkley due to his physical presence and scoring ability.

All three players have made a good start to the season but we have to be careful not to get carried away as they are all very inexperienced. I would like to see Barkley getting some more minutes on the pitch for England whether that is in the Senior team or the U21s. At the moment you would have to say these three are outsiders to make the plane to Brazil but if they can carry on developing and delivering the goods each week they may well force themselves into Roy Hodgsons plans.

Let us know what you think of our three picks this week and who you will be looking out for this weekend.
