Joe Hart Solid enough game from Hart who didn't have too many saves to make against a misfiring side Poland. Made a crucial save when Lewandowski broke through and was there when we needed him most. 7/10
Chris Smalling Playing at right back didn't really suit Smalling who was found out of position a couple of times in the first half allowing Poland to attack in decent positions. Will be better suited to CB in the future. 6/10
Phil Jagielka Solid at the back along with Cahill. Didn't really put a foot wrong and always there when needed against a strong opponent in Lewandowski. 7/10
Gary Cahill Defended well and kept Poland and inparticular Lewandowski fairly quiet. Formed a decent partnership with Jagielka and another welcome clean sheet. 7/10
Leighton Baines Another good performance from the Everton man. Taken his chance in the team well. His deadly free kicks and quality from corners are a real asset to the team. 8/10
Steven Gerrard A captains performance, not just tonight, but Gerrard has been immense throughout the whole qualifying campaign. His winning goal this evening showed his importance to the team. 9/10
Michael Carrick A good shift from Carrick which although isn't often spectacular he brings a calming influence to the team. His passing and ability to break the opposition down shouldn't be overlooked. 7/10
Andros Townsend In only his second game for the senior team he has shown that he fully deserves a spot on the plane to Brazil. Townsend is quick, he attacks defenders and is happy to shoot when he gets a chance. A real talent for the future. 9/10
Daniel Sturridge Put in a decent shift and had a couple of shots on goal. We'd like him to work the line more and stay on his feet (without moaning when he gets fouled). Gerrard showed him the rewards you can get by staying on your feet by getting a goal. 7/10
Danny Welbeck A bit of a frustrating night for Welbeck who seemed to lose his balance and ability to control the ball on several occasions. We have seen his deadly touch for United this season - we would like to see more goals at international level. 6/10
Wayne Rooney A good performance from our main man. 7 goals in 6 games shows what a talent he is for the England team and his goals have been invaluable to the team. 9/10
Three Lions Roar Man of the Match: Wayne Rooney
We could have given this to Gerrard or Townsend who both had excellent matches and contributed to several key moments. However, Rooney stepped up when England needed him most to become Englands all time leading scorer in World Cup matches moving ahead of Gary Linker.
